Sports Update 26 October 2023

Tennis

It has been a very busy week, with awards assemblies. Despite the excitement during the week and school finishing early on Friday, the teams have shown commitment and teamwork by still coming back to school to play their matches. Their commitment paid off, as they managed to win most of their matches against Bergvliet and Springfield High School.  Thank you for showing up and playing your best.

Stayers Tournament:

The U19 Water Polo Team travelled to participate in the Stayers Tournament hosted at Somerset College on 21-22 October. On day 1, the team faced the strong Rhenish Girls’ High School, who ended up winning the tournament. Despite Rustenburg giving their all, the scoreboard was not on our side this time. The main objective was to remain calm and focused on our game, and we ended up winning all their matches from then on.

The weather changed from very windy, unfavourable conditions on Saturday, to very hot scorching heat on Sunday. These factors formed part of our mental preparation. Rustenburg ended up in an impressive 3rd position, out of 12 schools that participated in the tournament. We applaud you all and are very proud of your achievement.
