Rising Challenger’s Cup

Help us get our U14A and U19A teams to their Rising Challenger’s Cup tournaments.

The Rustenburg Girls’ High School U19A hockey team also has some exciting news! After the announcement of the U14A team qualifying to participate in the Rising Challenger’s Cup in Bloemfontein, we received the news that the U19A team had also qualified for this tournament.

The U19A Rising Challenger’s Cup Tournament will be held from 8-11 August in Paarl.

This prestigious tournament is reserved for teams that are ranked between positions 13 and 25 in the country. Through some excellent performances and hard work done in the pre-season, this is a recognition of a talented group of players. Our U19s have worked hard this year and will be looking to cement their position as one of the best teams in South Africa.

As one can imagine, the costs for a tour of this nature are quite high, and due to the announcement of our qualification coming at the end of May, the heavy financial burden is one that many families are not in a position to carry.

If you or someone you know is in a position to donate towards lightening the financial load for the team and assist in getting this talented and diverse group of individuals to the tournament, your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Hockey vs Stellenberg

Our last hockey matches were played against Stellenberg. Our teams achieved some stellar results while playing some exceptional hockey. While some results didn’t go our way, the U14A team continued to impress, with a narrow 1-0 victory against a Stellenberg team that was yet to be defeated up until then.

Western Province Hockey

Best of luck to all of our hockey players who have been selected to represent Western Province, as they will be playing in the various provincial and national tournaments during the school holidays.

Further congratulations to past pupil, and the U14B coach, Ms Jodie Blows (E23) on her selection to the SA U21 Hockey Squad.
