Hockey

PGSGU Hockey Tournament

The annual tournament was hosted by Wynberg Girls’ High School, following the conclusion of the hockey season. The U14A, U16A and U19A hockey teams took part in the tournament, which featured Herschel, Springfield, St Cyprian’s and Wynberg.

The U14A team narrowly missed out on a chance to win their tournament, following a narrow defeat to Herschel – finishing second.

The U16A team featured in a very strong age group, competing admirably to obtain a fourth-placed finish.

For the first time in recently recorded history, the U19A hockey team was crowned PGSGU hockey champions, breaking a Herschel-winning run dating back to 2016.

The team started the tournament well, with a strong draw against Herschel. Wins against Wynberg and Springfield put the team in a strong position going into the last game of the tournament against St Cyprian’s. The team finished with a draw, meaning they would finish the tournament as the only team not to concede a goal.

This special achievement was a wonderful and proud way for the matric class of 2024 to end their school careers.

Netball

PGSGU Netball Tournament
