Swimming

The RGHS Swimming team participated in an individual gala hosted by Rondebosch Boys on Thursday, October 17. The team was in high spirits and performed impressively against our regular rivals, Rhenish and Herschel. Rustenburg secured 3rd place overall. Well done to all the swimmers!

Tennis

Last week, our tennis teams traveled across the city to face some tough competition, securing 4 out of 5 wins.

The first team delivered a dominant performance against Reddam, winning 3 singles matches and both doubles matches. The second team fought hard for a victory against the Westerford 1st Team. Unfortunately, the RGHS 3rd team faced a strong challenge from the Jan van Riebeeck 1st Team.

Touch Rugby

Last Friday, 18 October 2024, Rustenburg Girls’ High School played host to an exciting season-opening tournament organised by WP Touch Rugby. The atmosphere was electric as teams gathered for a day filled with friendly competition and spirited sportsmanship. 

Standout performers Kadi Okuka and Kerry Malan for the 1st team, along with Anika du Toit and Jayde Wilson for the 2nd team, showcased their impressive skills, leaving a mark on the field and inspiring their teammates. Among the highlights of the day were the much-anticipated matches between Wynberg Girls’ High School and Rustenburg.

Water Polo

The Rustenburg water polo team participated in the Somerset College Stayers tournament on Saturday, 19 and Sunday, 20 October. The players showcased impressive skills, teamwork, and determination, leading to a fantastic winning streak throughout the tournament.

Their performance not only highlighted their individual talents but also demonstrated the strong camaraderie that defines our team. It has been a long while since a Rustenburg water polo team has won a tournament. Well done to Coach Oliver and the team!

Figure Skating

Shan Tong Yu participated in the Cape Interprovincial Figure Skating competition from the 14th-15th October in the Junior Ice dance section. She achieved 2nd place overall.

Sailing

Faith Lyons (Grade 9) represented South Africa when she competed in the 2024 IODA Optimist African Championships in the Seychelles. Faith finished 19th out of 38 African competitors. She will also be competing in the Youth Nationals to be held in East London in December.
