Swimming
SACS hosted a combined gala on Thursday, 24 October. The Rustenburg swimmers gave a strong performance, finishing the event with 221 points. Initially, they were announced as the overall winners, but it was later discovered that due to a typo, St. Cyprian’s had actually scored the same number of points. As a result, the two schools were declared joint winners.

Touch Rugby
Last Friday, our Rustenburg 2nd team faced off against Springfield’s 1st team in an exciting touch rugby friendly. Despite the challenging matchup, our players demonstrated tremendous determination and battled through the heat, ultimately finishing the game with a score of 5-1.
A standout moment came from Keilana Wyne (Grade 8), who scored a brilliant consolation try. With an impressive burst of speed down the wing, Keilana showcased both skill and tenacity, earning cheers from her teammates and supporters.
The team executed the coach’s game plan to the best of their ability. Although they fought hard against a strong opponent, the scoreline did not reflect the effort put forth by our players. While the result wasn’t what we had hoped for, the friendly served as a valuable learning opportunity for the team. As this friendly marked the last touch rugby game for the term, we look forward to seeing all our teams shine in the league next term.
Open Water Swimming
Michaela Labaschagne (Grade 11), participated in the Langebaan Express Open Water Swim, where she completed the 6km race in 1:16:49. She finished 12th overall and 4th in the women’s category. Despite recovering from an injury that limited her to kicking with just one leg, Michaela delivered an outstanding performance.
