Water Polo
U14 Dave Pitcairn Water Polo Tournament
This past weekend, 14-16 February, the U14A water polo team participated in the highly anticipated Dave Pitcairn Water Polo Tournament, hosted at Reddam Constantia. For many of the players, this tournament marked their first experience playing water polo competitively. This presented a challenging yet valuable opportunity for the team to showcase their skills and grow as athletes.
Given that many of the players were new to competitive water polo, they were truly “thrown in the deep end,” facing off against seasoned opposition. Despite the challenges, the U14s demonstrated remarkable determination throughout the tournament. They showed up for every game with a positive attitude and displayed a never-give-up mentality, which is something to be proud of.
While the team faced tough competition and some tough losses, the players’ commitment to the game never wavered. Their performances, though faced with adversity, revealed strong potential for development. We believe the team has a bright future and will continue to improve with every experience.

Nite Series 2025: Rhenish vs Rustenburg Semi-Final
In a thrilling semi-final clash at the Nite Series 2025 on 18 February, Rustenburg narrowly fell short against Rhenish with a 5-6 loss, despite a courageous effort in the pool. Both teams had shown dominant performances throughout the tournament, and with their similar forms, this highly anticipated match promised to be an intense showdown — and it certainly delivered.
Throughout the game, both teams exchanged fierce attacks and solid defence, with neither willing to give an inch. Rustenburg’s standout players did their best to put their team on top. Regular scorers Tatum Malherbe and Jade Jarvis each netted two goals. Olivia Figaji also contributed to the scoreline with a well-taken goal.
However, despite the strong performances from these key players, Rustenburg ultimately fell just short, losing in a hard-fought battle. The match was a nail-biting affair, with both teams pushing each other to the limit, but Rhenish edged out Rustenburg in the final moments to secure their spot in the final.

Touch Rugby
Our First Touch Rugby Team continues their rampant run of form in the league, as they march towards a semi-final berth for yet another season. With a sparkling display of fast-paced touch rugby, the First Team managed to secure a resounding 8-0 win against Westerford High School. Sadly, Norman Henshilwood were unable to field a team, which saw our fourth team miss out on an opportunity to take the field, albeit collecting the points, on the back of a forfeit.
In a nail-biting affair, our third team were edged out by a resilient Westerford second team, who nicked the game 2-1 in the dying embers of the game.
Our Second Team were edged by the Claremont High School First Team in a catch-up game played on 18 February, losing 3-1.
The fourth team put on an impressive display to overhaul Rhodes High School’s First Team 4-1.
Come and support our teams in the last round of matches before the semi-finals next weekend.
All matches are at Rustenburg and will start soon after school on Friday 21 February 2025.
The First Team has started training on Monday mornings for further upskilling sessions. If you are interested in joining them for these sessions, please contact Mr Ncukana at ncukanao@rghs.org.za.
Indoor Hockey
Building on a strong foundation, our indoor hockey teams have begun capping off strong performances with the results to show.
Good comeback performances saw the First Team and U14A team record impressive results. With three important weeks coming up for our First Team, a series of good results placed the team in a good position for yet another strong league push, which will be followed shortly by a pursuit of the coveted PGSGU trophy that Rustenburg famously won in 2023.
Could the 2025 team push for double glory? A lot rests on the next few weeks.
