PGSGU Hockey Report
PGSGU Inter-schools was the final date on the 2022 hockey calendar, and what a special couple of days it was. Our U14A, U16A and U19A teams were hosted at Wynberg Girls’ High School on Friday 9 September and Saturday 10 September. A fitting end to what has been an exceptional season for our hockey teams.
The U14A and U16A teams finished in 3rd place, while the U19A team narrowly missed out on winning the tournament, ending as runners-up to Herschel.
A massive congratulations go to Erin Coetzee (U14A coach) and Sasha Sivertsen (U16A coach) for all their efforts during the season. The future of hockey at Rustenburg is in safe hands.

They all ended their school careers with the following number of caps for Rustenburg:
Micaela Ceruti (46), Catalina Ross (42), Hannah Lavery (39), Nina von der Heyden (32).
Congratulations to Jodie Blows who took part in all of the U19A team’s 40 games this season, and managed to score 26 goals in the process.
Stayer’s Hockey Festival
Rustenburg will be hosting the Inaugural RGHS Hockey Stayers’ Festival on 17 September 2022. The festival offers local schools an opportunity to showcase the talent available at their disposal for the 2023 season. We will be hosting 5 schools – namely; Herschel, Springfield, St Cyprian’s, Stellenberg and Wynberg. All matches will be played at Rustenburg, with the first game at 08h00, and the last game at 15h00. Come and show your support for our team.
Outreach Clinic
On 23 and 24 September, we will be running an Outreach Hockey Clinic. The aim of the clinic is to provide coaching to children from disadvantaged areas, who are not exposed to quality coaching.
We are looking for any assistance with old sticks, shin pads, and hockey shoes, as well as assistance with food and refreshment packages. If you are able to offer any assistance, please contact Olu Ncukana at ncukanao@rghs.org.za.
Thank you to everyone who has already contributed. We are looking to target mostly learners between the ages of 10 and 14.

Emma Hartlief (Grade 8) obtained her Western Province colours for tumbling. Tumbling is a discipline of gymnastics. She will be competing in Pretoria in October at The South African Gym Games. Congratulations on this achievement and good luck with your preparations for the Games.
