Water Polo

U16A Rhenish Water Polo Tournament

The U16A Water Polo team participated in the U16 Rhenish Water Polo Tournament held in Stellenbosch from 7th to 9th February. Although the team placed 13th in the tournament, their determination throughout the event was commendable. This tournament was the first opportunity for the team to gain valuable game experience. The first match saw the team face a tough opponent in Glenwood House, where they suffered a challenging 12-0 loss. However, the team remained focused and determined to improve with each match.

The following day, the team played Rhenish U16B, losing 10-1, followed by a narrow 3-2 defeat to Herschel U16B. The match against Herschel was tightly contested, with both teams giving it their all, but Herschel managed to take the victory. Despite these setbacks, the U16A team showed incredible resilience, and in their final match of the day, they bounced back with a fantastic 9-0 win over Westerford, marking a strong performance after a shaky start.

On the final day of the tournament, the team played for 13th place and fought hard to earn a draw against Rhenish U16B. While they were unable to secure a win, the team’s effort and fighting spirit were evident throughout the weekend.

A special congratulations to Baylee Jardine, Georgia Parr, and Lucy Midlane, who all stood out during the tournament and were selected for the tournament team. These three players will have the incredible opportunity to travel to Greece in June/July.

While the results may not have been what the team had hoped for, the experience gained will be invaluable. The team displayed impressive growth, resilience, and potential, setting a strong foundation for the rest of the season.

Nite Series vs Reddam

On Tuesday, 11th February, the U19A Water Polo team faced off against Reddam in a Nite Series match at Wynberg Girls’ High School. Despite the absence of the Grade 11 players attending their Grade 11 camp, the team put up a valiant effort throughout the game.

The team started strong in the first half, showing great determination and skill. However, as the match progressed, they lost momentum, allowing Reddam to edge ahead. In the end, the final score was a narrow 5-6 in favour of Reddam.

A standout performance came from Jorja Turner, who scored 3 of the team’s 5 goals. Regular scorers Tatum Malherbe and Jessica Gray each added one goal to the tally, contributing to the team’s efforts.

Their teamwork and individual skills were the key to their success, as they consistently placed high in each race. Each week, the team has continued to improve, demonstrating growth in both technique and speed.

While the team fell just short of first place, their efforts were commendable, and they should be proud of the results. The experience gained at this event will undoubtedly contribute to their continued growth and success in future competitions.
